We’re moving to Colorado!

Image

I haven’t posted here in a LONG time.  I have some updates now though.  Hubby and I are moving from Arizona to Colorado!  I am so excited to be moving closer to our son.  We have spent the past week planning our move and packing.  We found a cute little house to rent that has a nice fenced in yard for the dogs.

They’ve never been in the cold before and haven’t seen snow so they are in for a bit of a surprise.  It’s still in the triple digits here.  In 10 days from now it will be 30-40 degrees colder.  Wait.  I might be in  for a bit of a surprise!

Hubby has a second interview coming up for a teaching job and I was just contacted by a recruiter so the job hunt is going fairly well so far.

The little house we found has some nice trees on the property, grassy yard in front and back, wood floors and has an open concept.  It is a 1940’s brick house with a little fireplace.  We are looking forward to getting back into gardening, cooler weather, being near T2, exploring Denver and the rest of Colorado, spending more time outdoors.  We are going to have a fire pit in our back yard.  We are looking forward to walking the dogs in the new neighborhood and getting to know our neighbors.

With this move also comes some new ideas and habits I want to have.  I’ve been reading some good books that have really helped me to learn more about myself.  I’m excited to be only 2 miles from the zoo, near lots of ethnic restaurants and city activities.  T and I are thinking of joining a yoga class.

Have you ever been to Colorado?  What did you like about it?

Lil Fatty is alive!

lil fatty

For anyone following along, Lil Fatty is alive and kickin!  He built a new tunnel next to the old one!  I’m not messing with it this time.  I also saw him in our yard.  We just hope he doesn’t bring his extended family to live with him.

If you missed my first post you can read it here: https://feefeern.wordpress.com/2009/08/09/i-might-have-accidentally-killed-a-lil-fatty/

Our anniversary

Yesterday Tim and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary of love.  I agreed to pick up one patient in the morning but she was such a sweet old lady and her daughter was so appreciative that it was worth doing on a Saturday and our anniversary.  And it turned out that she recommended the place where we went to eat lunch which was fabulous.  We went to Cave Creek (AZ) and browsed around their shops.  It was super hot out but still a lot of fun.

We drove around looking at the different neighborhoods out there.  It is an absolutely gorgeous drive and the views are to die for.  Mountains everywhere.  I felt I was on vacation even though we were only a half an hour from home.   We saw some huge deer and I saw a big fat lizard.  Not the kind of lizards we have around our place.  The buck was so majestic just sitting under a shade tree in someone’s front yard while the doe wandered around slowly.

We bought a really sweet old desk for T2’s room which is now a second guest room.  (Now we just need some guests!)  When we got home we both cleaned it up and set it up.  It is a smaller desk- perfect for a vanity.  All I need to do is put a mirror over it- which I will keep my eye out for now.

The place we ate was a Mexican restaurant.  The food was really good.  I got a bean burrito and rice- nothing fancy- I don’t like too much spice in my food.  Tim got grilled fish tacos which he really liked a lot.  The restaurant was so quaint.  They had a duck pond.  The ducks came right up to us and I hand fed this big white goose a few times.  It was a very perfect day with the love of my life.

Hello!  The graphic today is for my son.

I talked to T2 on the phone today.  He is all settled in at his new place in Colorado.  His roommate is there now and settling in also.  Today was his first official day of med school.   He said it went well.  This week is orientation but really they are learning stuff too- going over anatomy and learning skills to help them study, etc.  He was a little taken aback by the amount of money he will have to spend on books and supplies (literally thousands) but it will all be worth it.   It was just so great to hear from him.  He’s going to be really busy from now until ??? so I am appreciating every minute he can spare to call his mom.  :)

Here’s a a few pics of his new place:

This is how he set up his kitchen.  He chose red and black for his kitchen colors- towels, plates, etc.

Bonus- a fireplace- which he may actually use since he is in Colorado.

Hopefully he’ll get some rest!

I was impressed with his closet.  It is set up nicely with the shelving system to maximize the space.

 Another bonus is the pool.

He also has garage parking.  His friend Austin moved there also which makes it a great deal for both of them.  I don’t have any pics of Austin’s room though.

Next time I will see him will be Christmas.  Sooooo far away.  Maybe, just maybe, we can fly out there for Thanksgiving if he has enough time off.  It would be worth it to see him even for a day.

Here he is…the guy that will one day be taking care of our medical needs.

I love and miss you Kiddo!!

Phoenix Zoo

My sister Cherie came out for a visit.  We went to the zoo the other day.  Here are some of the photos.  We had to take her to the airport this morning to go back home to Chicago.  :(  Enjoy the zoo pics!  FeeFee
