These are just a few photos from one of our hikes. Leaves will be changing soon and I can’t wait to get back out there!
I haven’t posted here in a LONG time. I have some updates now though. Hubby and I are moving from Arizona to Colorado! I am so excited to be moving closer to our son. We have spent the past week planning our move and packing. We found a cute little house to rent that has a nice fenced in yard for the dogs.
They’ve never been in the cold before and haven’t seen snow so they are in for a bit of a surprise. It’s still in the triple digits here. In 10 days from now it will be 30-40 degrees colder. Wait. I might be in for a bit of a surprise!
Hubby has a second interview coming up for a teaching job and I was just contacted by a recruiter so the job hunt is going fairly well so far.
The little house we found has some nice trees on the property, grassy yard in front and back, wood floors and has an open concept. It is a 1940’s brick house with a little fireplace. We are looking forward to getting back into gardening, cooler weather, being near T2, exploring Denver and the rest of Colorado, spending more time outdoors. We are going to have a fire pit in our back yard. We are looking forward to walking the dogs in the new neighborhood and getting to know our neighbors.
With this move also comes some new ideas and habits I want to have. I’ve been reading some good books that have really helped me to learn more about myself. I’m excited to be only 2 miles from the zoo, near lots of ethnic restaurants and city activities. T and I are thinking of joining a yoga class.
Have you ever been to Colorado? What did you like about it?
Bellybutton and Lambie- Together Forever!
This is Baby ZuZu. He is really sweet and very inquisitive. He is surprisingly fast for a tortoise. He has cute little elephant-like back legs and the tiniest cutest tail. We are thinking of renaming him to Henry or Wally.
He had his first vet appointment yesterday. He had to get an x-ray of his leg. It was broken before we got him and is healing. He does not have an infection but might have a limp for life. The injury is appoximately 6 weeks old. We found out he is 3-4 years old. The vet said if he had to guess he would say he is a boy but it is too early to tell. We won’t know for another 4 years! We found out we are doing everything right. We are going to be making a larger pen and larger burrows next weekend. We got the ok for him to hibernate. I’ll show pics of the new pen when it is completed.
I took some pictures today of our new baby tortoise, ZuZu.
Resting in her burrow.
She is not really shy and sticks her head out a lot usually. She is pretty active too. She sleeps with her neck stretched out and her head lying on the ground which is super cute to see.
You can see her sore on her front right foot.
On the move.
She is a good climber.
She really isn’t so sure about Francie.
But as far as Francie is concerned she has a new BFF. She doesn’t try to do anything to her but just can’t keep her eyes off of her when she is out of the pen. They are never left together alone.
Here are some other misc. pictures I thought I’d share:
Timmy and Aunt Gerrie. Taken at the white coat ceremony where he took the osteopathic oath and received his first white coat.
a pic of Timmy that I like
a huge bug we found on our screen outside.
Tim working on some art in the garage. I love to watch Tim working on his art. Francine getting ready to help.
Buster asleep on Daddy’s lap.
Me and Timmy at the zoo.

This is a house near ours. I like the xeriscape.
Same house. Isn’t it lovely?
Hello! The graphic today is for my son.
I talked to T2 on the phone today. He is all settled in at his new place in Colorado. His roommate is there now and settling in also. Today was his first official day of med school. He said it went well. This week is orientation but really they are learning stuff too- going over anatomy and learning skills to help them study, etc. He was a little taken aback by the amount of money he will have to spend on books and supplies (literally thousands) but it will all be worth it. It was just so great to hear from him. He’s going to be really busy from now until ??? so I am appreciating every minute he can spare to call his mom. :)
Here’s a a few pics of his new place:
looking towards the living room
Looking towards the kitchen
This is how he set up his kitchen. He chose red and black for his kitchen colors- towels, plates, etc.
Nice little area to eat.
Bonus- a fireplace- which he may actually use since he is in Colorado.
T2’s bedroom (master bedroom)
This is where he will be doing a lot of studying.
Hopefully he’ll get some rest!
I was impressed with his closet. It is set up nicely with the shelving system to maximize the space.
Main bath- Austin’s
Master bath. Timmy’s. It’s nice that they each have their own.
Another bonus is the pool.
He also has garage parking. His friend Austin moved there also which makes it a great deal for both of them. I don’t have any pics of Austin’s room though.
Next time I will see him will be Christmas. Sooooo far away. Maybe, just maybe, we can fly out there for Thanksgiving if he has enough time off. It would be worth it to see him even for a day.
Here he is…the guy that will one day be taking care of our medical needs.
I love and miss you Kiddo!!
