We’re moving to Colorado!

I haven’t posted here in a LONG time.  I have some updates now though.  Hubby and I are moving from Arizona to Colorado!  I am so excited to be moving closer to our son.  We have spent the past week planning our move and packing.  We found a cute little house to rent that has a nice fenced in yard for the dogs. They’ve never been in the cold before and haven’t seen snow so they are in for a bit of a surprise.  It’s still in the triple digits here.  In 10 days from now it will be 30-40 degrees colder.  Wait.  I might be in  for a bit of a surprise! Hubby has a second interview coming up for a teaching job and I was just contacted by a recruiter so the job hunt is going fairly well so far. The little house we found has some nice trees on the property, grassy yard in front and back, wood floors and has an open concept.  It is a 1940’s brick house with a …

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th everyone!  What have you been doing today?  We just hung out in the pool and listened to music.  Not sure about going to see fireworks tonight.  It’s hot here and the guys aren’t into it this year.  Just wanted to let you know that we’ll be taking T2 to Colorado next week so there won’t be any posts from me next week.  I’ll see you all back here in a week!  It’s road trip time!  Also, a Buster update.  For a while there we thought we would lose him to the strange illness that he had.  After being on multiple medications we’ve been able to wean him off of all but 3.   Today is the first day off of the steroid so we’ll see how it goes.  Luckily, Angie (sis) is going to babysit for us while we go to CO so I know he’ll be in good hands.  Job update:  I started my new job and I really like the company a lot.  I followed the owner yesterday on a home health case …

Random journaling

I am still on the job hunt.  I have been looking for 2 months now.  I just keep trying, knowing that I will find one sooner or later.  I’m trying to make the best of a bad situation.  Some new jobs have been posted so that is good.  Have you experienced job cuts in your areas?  Baby Buster (our dog) is now on bedrest.  He was just at the vet recently to have his phenobarbital levels checked.  Everything was ok.  Then he started twitching the other day.  The next day (yesterday) was even worse so we took him to the vet fearing some sort of seizure activity.  The good news is that it is not a seizure.  The bad news is that it could be a slipped disc or possibly just a pulled muscle.  He is apparently having pain in his neck though not severe.  Still, to be on the safe side, he has a pain pill now and a muscle relaxer.  He is to be on bedrest for 2 weeks.  That is the hardest …

Alyssa’s graduation day

Alyssa with her boyfriend Steven Yesterday we went to my niece, Alyssa’s, graduation.  It was so nice.  Didn’t think I would but I got a little tear in my eye thinking that this is the same girl whose diaper I changed!  And thinking about all the birthdays and occasions and Alyssa growing up to be the woman she is today.  I am so very proud of her and love her so much!  Here are a few pics from yesterday:  Graduation girl! Here she is on the jumbotron-right after she got her diploma.  Aubrey, Timmy, Alyssa and me- those three are cousins but as close as brother and sisters. I’m so glad Timmy was able to make it for this special day for Alyssa (he is moving out of state soon) Alyssa and her boyfriend Steven. I think she looks amazing in this color blue.  Angie’s family: Rocco, Aubrey, Joey, Alyssa, Angie. It was great that Joey was able to fly out for this day too.  A better picture of Rocco- he was waiting for his sister’s …

Finding the moment

It’s a really nice, sunny morning here in Arizona.  I am just hanging out this morning soaking it all in.  I am re-reading a book I really love called A New Earth – Awakening to your Life’s Purpose  by Eckhart Tolle.  http://eckharttolle.com/a_new_earth  It is very good.  You do not have to read his first book “The Power of Now” to read the second, however both are good.  “When you are present in this moment, you break the continuity of your story, of past and future.  Then, true intelligence arises, and also love. The only way love can come into your life is not through form, but through that inner spaciousness that is Presence.  Love has no form.”  ~Eckhart Tolle   Though he doesn’t think a lot about his past (he lives in the moment) he realized that some people may benefit from knowing his.  Eckhart Tolle grew up with depression.  He remembers being depressed at a very young age.  He considered suicide in his 20’s.  At one point he had moved and had very little …

Top 20 things Oprah and I know for sure.

Got this list from Oprah.com.  I really love it!  I was inspired to make my own list of things I know for sure which follows this one.  It is harder than it appears!  I encourage you to make your own.  FeeFee 20 things Oprah knows for sure….. 1. What you put out comes back all the time, no matter what. (This is my creed.) 2. You define your own life. Don’t let other people write your script. 3. Whatever someone did to you in the past has no power over the present. Only you give it power. 4. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time. (A lesson from Maya Angelou.) 5. Worrying is wasted time. Use the same energy for doing something about whatever worries you. 6. What you believe has more power than what you dream or wish or hope for. You become what you believe. 7. If the only prayer you ever say is thank you, that will be enough. (From the German theologian and humanist Meister Eckhart.) 8. …

List maker?

(Looking for backsplash ideas I came across this cool modern kitchen- I like this sink too!)    Are you a list maker?  I am.  Most days it is just a mental list of things I need to do that day but oftentimes I write it all down.  Especially the house ideas.  Here are some things on my to do lists.  Today: 1. Call doctor’s office and pick up prescriptions. 2. Make a grocery list and grocery shop (I am a very unsuccessful grocery shopper without one and will come home with a bunch of “half meals” and snacks so I have  taken the time to make one on Word with all the frequently purchased items.  All I have to do is print it out and check things off). 3. Apply for 3 jobs. (I already know which ones- the search was done) 4. Start cleaning the garage. 5. Make Tim’s BD card. 6. Be sure to stretch. (My lower back and hamstrings are getting super tight) 7. Cover the outdoor lounge cot with fabric. 8. Call Mom.   (Sweet little …

Gramma Busha, Gramma Joan

While I was shredding my journals I found a poem I made a long time ago while thinking of my Gramma.  I also found a note I wrote to her after she died telling her I missed her and sharing my thoughts with her.  I am not a poet but I really liked reading this as it brought back some nice memories once again.  Stout woman with an apron on Saying “cha” as she gave her grand children candy. Smiling woman with white hair, skin as soft as a peach, Sitting in her chair knitting a vest for Grandpa. Plump woman working hard, making Christmas dinner for the whole family in her little kitchen. Caring woman, weeding her garden- every color flower all along the fence. Loving woman getting down the lifesaver glass that I couldn’t reach. Beautiful woman sitting at the kitchen table pouring milk into her tea. Go to her house and see- I don’t think she will ever leave.      Here is what I love.  I found an old journal of Timmy’s that he …

I found my haircut

I found a great pic I am going to take in to the salon for my next haircut.  It will be great for summer.  Great for straight hair like mine.  I am also going back to my natural dark brown color.    I found this pic here:  http://www.elle.fr/elle  (The French Elle magazine online- check it out.  You can have it translated into English)   T2 with his BD cake last night.  It was Cold Stone cake and ice cream.  Sweet cream ice cream with cookie dough pieces and extra cake batter ice cream on the side.  Because you can never have enough cold stone ice cream on your birthday!  Pics T2 and I took of Buster yesterday.  That tongue is so cute!  Look at his hair on top.  heehee Update on Buster:  He has Valley Fever in his brain.  We found out when he had some life threatening seizures back in November.  We almost lost him!  He has to be on antifungal medication for a year.  (He takes it twice a day and knows when it …

Journal about journal

I  have been journaling for pretty much as long as I can remember.  As part of my feng shui house clearing project, I started shredding my journals from the past.  (I shredded 2 so far) I have about 25 years worth of them!  25 YEARS!  When I started shredding them I found some pages that  made me cry.  Re-reading about hard times in my own words is just like re-living it.  The EXACT same feelings came up.  If my heart was broken when I was writing, my heart was breaking as I was reading.  So I was glad to shred those and be done with those kinds of memories.  BUT there is some really good stuff in there.  I even found some old pictures and newpaper clippings.  There are some good memories too.      So what would you do?  Would  you just keep them all in a box (and let someone else deal with them someday?) or go through them and save the good parts?  Shred them all?  Don’t even read them?  I’m not sure …
